LITTLE LIES
Jimmy sits still,
looking at his feet, thinking of what he will say, now that he’s been
indiscreet,
His wife knew it
all along, but never would she say, it’s just another little lie, that gets her
though her day.
Those little
lies, that we all hide, deep underneath our skin,
You have them
too, just like I do, they’ll come out in the end.
Jane’s not very
bright, but that’s all right, she’s lovely just the same,
So cute and nice,
no bad advice, too bad she’s slightly lame.
Those little
lies, that we all hide, to keep them in the dark,
The jokes on you,
cause they all knew, right from the very start.
Tims a little
thin, no rent for him, his paychecks spent again,
Says his mothers
sick, said it too quick, the landlord smiles and asks him when.
A little lie,
just gone awry, no harm intended there,
I’ll go confess,
forget the rest, now all is good and fair.
That stately
politician then, seems just like many men, except he woke up in someone else’s
glen.
He’s not been
exposed, the dirty louse, still throwing rocks at another’s house.
A dirty lie, and
not so little, but don’t think that the scores yet settled,
Someday he’ll
get, his just rewards, we all will, in our separate wards.
Those little lies
that we all share, will come out someday in the air,
And if we’re
quick and sharp of wit, we’ll still dance awhile, in that sand of quick.
But you’ll will
miss your step, and down you’ll go, to the land of reckoning, deep down below.
Those little
lies, yes aren’t they dear, to help you out if trouble’s near,
Not me, of
course, I’m saintly pure, I’ll be one of the first that’s burned.
Those little
lies, that we all hide, deep underneath our skin,
You have them
too, just like I do, they’ll come out in the end.
